Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Director of the Women and Children Shelter, the Resident Counselor is responsible in providing support to all residents (Women and Women with Children), as well as assisting the Director of the Women and Children Shelter in daily tasks. We have a Full Time & Part Time Position open!

Position Responsibilities:

1. Treat all guests with dignity and respect while being sensitive to diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

2. Share and rightly divide the Gospel when ministering and witnessing to guests.

3. Answer phones in a professional manner.

4. Conduct intakes and complete all necessary paperwork thoroughly.

5. Verify guest on bed list and make sure lights are out at 10 pm.

6. Maintain daily logs which include:

a. Events that occurred during shift.

b. Guests information, bed, and statistical reports.

c. Review daily chores and make sure they are complete.

d. Inform Director of intakes, exits, and emergencies.

7. Conduct breathalyzers to all guests when returning to campus.

8. Monitor the safety of residents which include:

a. Cooperation with law enforcement agencies as required.

b. Monitor all safety and hazardous situations in building.

c. Maintain emergency services (police, fire, medical daily log)

d. Complete monthly fire/tornado drills as assigned.

e. Report any leaks or damages to maintenance ASAP.

f. Inform and enforce guidelines and policies of shelter.

g. Resolve conflict and deescalate situations with kindness.

9. Ensure a clean area which includes:

a. Ensure that guests are keeping smoking area and property inside and out clean.

b. Ensure that staff apartment and front office is tidy and operable.

Education and Experience:

1. Required: High School Diploma or GED

2. Preferred: Previous experience in Christian leadership

3. Preferred: 2+ years experience in work field of changing and challenging environment

Skills/License/Certifications:

· Computer: Basic knowledge of Microsoft 365, Word, Excel

· Valid Driver’s License

Physical Demands/ Work Environment:

· Office (Primarily sitting at desk, walking, and bending)

· Indoors (Ability to walk steps, controlled climate)

· Maybe subject to hostile and emotionally upset guests or customers
