Pam's Story

My story actually started August 11, 2024. I was evicted from my apartment in Springfield, Missouri. My brother paid for an occasional hotel room, but I ended up on the streets with my dog. My church sent me up to Sioux City on a bus. That was a 27 hour bus ride. I made it up at here at 8am, my girls picked me up. At 2pm, my husband, who I was separated from, passed away. I came to The Gospel Mission on September 25th. I was angry, bitter, and had a wicked heart upon arrival. I did not want to be here. I am 61 years old and having someone tell me when to get up, when to eat, and when to go to bed did not sit well with me. But, I sat through chapel service twice a day. I listened to the lectures, I let them soak in, and would decipher them later. The more I listened and learned to walk with God, the more changes I saw, and the more blessings I received. I was told to take your problems to God, ask Him for help. I had learned to pray when I woke up, and pray when I went to bed, pray during all the times in-between. When I asked God, why did you keep me alive and bring me here? I was a wretch on the street, why did you bring me home? I have 2 wonderful daughters, they are my angels. All of a sudden every book I read, and every time I read my newsfeed the word “psychology” popped up......

I started classes at Regent University in January, taking Psychology. I intend to be a counselor when I graduate.

My next step is to pray for the negative thoughts to exit my mind, and be replaced with positive thoughts, and happiness. Again, my prayers have been answered. I am still learning to live the Godly way of life. But I HAVE made a complete transformation thanks to God, and the staff here at The Gospel Mission.
